shine: a literary journal was founded in 2021. It is a student-run literary journal that seeks to showcase the fiction, poetry, non-fiction, visual, and performance art of the students at Heritage Hall.

Dan Kennard holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Florida Atlantic University and has been published in several literary magazines and websites through the years. He published his first collection of fiction in 2020, In Plain Sight, and teaches English in the Upper School.
