HALLOWEEN POETRY by Hoke Waterman

"Halloween Night"
Shadows all around
Blood and teeth and claws
I sprint, homebound
Then something makes me pause
What is it? You ask,
On the edge of your seat
It's got wings but no mask
Looking for something to eat
"The shadows aren't so bad!" I decide
I run and run and run
Looking for a place to hide
The winged thing speaks "This will be fun."
It jumps into the air
Dives straight for me
As big as two bears
I pray, "Oh Lord Holy
CRUNCH! I fade into the darkness below me.
"What We Do at Night"
We run with the shadows
When the sun comes up, we hide
To our great master
We all humbly abide
Claws as sharp as daggers
Teeth, crimson red
We will sneak up on you
While you're in your bed
We get a feast each night
Quite a filling one, too
No, we're not ghosts
Those dumb things say "Boo"
But we say nothing
As we crawl along the floor
Next thing you know
We're at your bedroom door

Great job, Hoke! Those poems made em have Goosebumps!
